Indonesia have been selected for the Market Focus Programme at The London Book Fair (LBF), offering the unique opportunity to bring Indonesia’s rich literary and cultural heritage to the UK.
Taking place from 12-14 March, LBF 2019 will celebrate the best of contemporary Indonesian literature. Based around the prominent Market Focus Indonesia stand at the fair, the professional programme showcases Indonesia’s publishing trade, facilitating the sale of Indonesian rights and content to international publishers. In conjunction, a longer programme of cross-cultural activity runs before, throughout and after LBF, developed by the British Council in partnership with Indonesia’s National Organizing Committee. The London Book Fair Cultural Programme showcases
events to meet authors and hear them discuss their work in front of international audiences across the UK throughout February, March and April.

The 12 authors chosen for the cultural programme represent the diversity of Indonesia's literary sector, reflecting the multiple regions, religions, genres and ages of Indonesian culture and society. They will participate in a variety of events across the Cultural Programme including panel discussions, readings and seminars on themes including feminism, mythology, film and identity.

A number of titles have already attracted attention from UK publishers, with several books already published or scheduled for release in the UK from Harvill Secker, Emma Press, Monsoon Press, AmazonCrossing and Tilted Axis Press.
