Indonesia at London Book Fair on March 12, 2017

As the annual London Book Fair (LBF) opens in London, a delegation from Indonesia will be promoting a selection of 200 books, one of which will see its UK launch during the 3-day event.

Leading Indonesian publishing houses such as Mizan, Gramedia, BAB Publishing and the Lontar Foundation will be in attendance at the fair, alongside representatives from Indonesia’s National Book Committee (Komite Buku Nasional -KBN), Borobudur Agency and Trisda Literatur Foundation, all of whom will play a crucial role in negotiating on behalf of those publishers who are unable to attend.

Sapardi Djoko Damono remains involved in both academics and poetry up to now. Sapardi has served as a professor in the Department of Literature at the University of Indonesia (UI), as well as holing the post of rector there in 1995-1999. He still actively teaches in the Masters program at the Jakarta Art Institute.  He continues to write not only poetry, but also short stories, essays and academic analyses.  

After decades of creativity that has earned him both national and international literary awards, Sapardi modestly reflects on his journey.
