As part of his preparation to be a catholic priest, Petrus Canisius Suwandi Sandiwan Brata studied philosophy and got his BA from Driyarkara Institute of Philosophy, Jakarta, Indonesia, and then his MA from Gregorian University, Rome, Italy, 1987. He studied theology at Wedhabakti Pontifical Institute of Theology, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and graduated in 1990.

Laura is the Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Committee for the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce. She is also the Head of the International Book Exhibition for the Indonesian Publishers Association. In 2016, she was appointed as the Head of the National Book Committee for Indonesia.

She was also the president of Indonesia Book Publisher Association (IKAPI) in the period of 2010-2015 and ASEAN Book Publisher Association in 2013-2015. Currently, she is the Chairperson for the Board Advisory of IKAPI and Literacy Development Coordinator of the National Book Committee.
