Azri Zakkiyah

Azri Zakkiyah was born on March 19th, 1992. She published her first novel at 15, in first year of Senior High School. She dreamt of writing science fiction professionally and majored in Physics and Medical Physics for her Bachelor and Master degree.

Her novels include Mawar Surga (Matapena, 2008); Alunan Vektor Allah (winner of National Writing Competition by Ministry of Religious Affairs 2008, published by Republika, 2009); Twin Ning (Matapena, 2010); Family Pie (Harfeey, 2013); Novel Aif (UB Press, 2016); Gus Faham (UB Press, 2016);I&A (UB Press, 2016); and I Bear Witness (UB Press, 2016). In between she published the anthology Ekipastisi Hidupku (Indie, 2012). Her works can be read in collaborations like Mahasantri Airlangga (Imtiyaz, 2012); Impian Hebat (Matapena, 2012); Kenapa Sekolah (Raditeens, 2015); Bilingual Anthology Tat Tvam Asi (Bitread, 2016) and others.

She was named as one of Indonesia’s Emerging Writers at the Ubud Writers Festival 2016 and was chosen as an exchange writer for the Emerging Writers Festival Melbourne 2017. She has now been selected for the Writers Residence Program by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and the National Book Committee for two months in Australia this year.
