Triyanto Triwikromo received the Tokoh Seni Pilihan Tempo 2015 award after writing Kematian Kecil Kartosoewirjo and Pusat Bahasa’s literary award in 2009 for Ular di Mangkuk Nabi. His works, including A Conspiracy of God-killers (2015), The Serpent in The Holy Grail (2015), and Upside-Down Heaven (2015) were showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Book Fair. Ten of his short stories previously published in the Kompas Short Story Choices from 2003-2012, are now published as a book Celeng Satu Celeng Semua (One Wild Pig All Wild Pigs, Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2013). His short story “Cahaya Sunyi Ibu” (Mother’s Quiet Light) was carried in the 2008 Golden Pen Literary Award for 20 Best Indonesian Short Stories. His most recent book is Surga Sungsang (Upside-Down Heaven), a novel published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2014. From 2012 to 2013, Triyanto was involved in implementing the city books program that was produced by deBuren, a renowned Belgian cultural organization. This program facilitated the translation of ten of his long poems about Semarang, the provincial capital of Central Java, into Dutch, English and French. His short stories have been also translated into Swedish and English. Triyanto Triwikromo was born in Salatiga, Central Java, on September 15, 1964 and graduated from Diponegoro University in Semarang with a Master’s degree in literature. He lectures Creative Writing at his alma mater and is managing editor at the daily newspaper Suara Merdeka. In addition to composing poetry (which, among others, was published in the bilingual edition Mud Purgatory in 2008), he has written several short story collections, Rezim Seks (Regime of Sex), Ragaula (Aini, 2002), Anakanak Mengasah Pisau (Children Sharpening the Knives, Masscom Media, 2003), Sayap Anjing (Dog Wings, Kompas Book Publishers, 2003) and Malam Sepasang Lampion (The Night of a Pair of Paper Lanterns, Kompas Book Publishers, 2004). He participated in the Utan Kayu International Literary Biennale in East Jakarta in 2005 and 2007. After that, he was a participant of Wordstorm, the Northern Territory Writers Festival in Darwin, Australia, and in January–February of 2008 in the Gang Festival during his tenure as writer in residence in Sydney, Australia. Together with Budi Darma, Eka Kurniawan, Nugroho Suksmanto, and Chavchay Saifullah, he wrote LA Underlover (Katakita, 2008), a collection of short stories about the interaction of Indonesians with Los Angeles people. In 2010, a collection of his poetry Pertempuran Rahasia (Secret Combat) was published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama. In 2015, another collection Selir Musim Panas (Summer Concubine) and a short stories collection Bersepeda ke Neraka (Cycling to Hell) was published by Kepustakaan Populer Gramedia. That same year a collection of his short stories Sesat Pikir Para Binatang (The Falacy of the Beasts) was published by Grasindo.

His stories Surga Sungsang (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2014) and Kematian Kecil Kartosoewirjo (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2014) was nominated for the so-called Big Five Kusala Sastra Khatulistiwa 2014 and 2015.
